No actual ants are involved here, but this is a very quick and easy Christmas chocolate candy you can whip up in a whim.
We’re not certain why they’re called “ants”, since they’re not really similar to ants. “Eivor”, however, is a nice old neighbor of Anders’ and it is her recipe that we keep coming back to, not only for Christmas but many times throughout year when we have people over and need a quick snack to serve.
1 portion, sufficient for a party of 10 (10 minutes total preparation time)
- 50 g butter
- 1 dl caster sugar
- 30 ml cocoa powder
- 30 ml golden syrup
- 3 dl corn flakes
- Put the butter, sugar, cocoa and syrup in a sauce pan and turn the heat to medium. Let the ingredients combine and get warm enough for the sugar to melt and get incorporated.
- Gently stir in the corn flakes until they’re coated with the chocolate mix.
- Reduce the heat to low and use two spoons and place small portions of the mixture on a piece of parchment paper.
- Let chill for about 10 minutes, or until the “ants” are firm, and just enjoy!
