You might think that one of Havana’s best restaurants is located in a nice looking, fancy neighbourhood, like how Hotel Saratoga have views overlooking the magnificent El Capitolio. But no, not really. La Guarida is technically a “paladares restaurant”, meaning privately owned and therefore typically located in the living areas of Havana rather than business or tourist areas. So if you’re gonna take one of the main streets from Old Havana to La Guarida, you will most likely end up on this street. The houses here are most definitely what you would call rough, but still it doesn’t feel unsafe at all to walk around in these areas.
