This almost feels like giving up a well kept secret, but the roof-top bar of La Guarida really is a hidden gem. The restaurant itself is mentioned in many Havana restaurant reviews, both for being one of the best restaurants in Havana, but also because it’s been used as a film location. What many fail to mention is that the roof-top bar is worth a visit completely on its own. The bar is mostly outdoor with a giant empty frame with colorful lighting creating a scenic viewpoint over the city. The contrast of the old and rustic house with the modern bar and trendy music creates a hipster setting not far from what you’d find in Brooklyn, but with Havana and the building it feels grounded and honest. It doesn’t hurt either that they have their own signature drinks and serves up some of the best cocktails in town.
